What are some simple improvements to lists that you would like to see?

when i add an item to a list, it's not clear to me where the site is searching ... what database? so for example, if i want to add a cafe i like how the site searches and finds the relevant cafe. however, if the cafe is not in your database, it doesn't give me the opportunity to add the necessary metadata to accurately describe the cafe (e.g. city or zip).

the location example is the one that immediately comes to mind but it has happened with other types of items, too. Not sure what the solution is ... i know you guys don't want to make it difficult to add items to a list, but I get a little frustrated when i can't adequately describe my item.
